As a teaching hospital, the Eastern Colorado Healthcare System provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research.
Academic Partners
The Eastern Colorado Healthcare System is primarily affiliated with the University of Colorado Denver health sciences programs*. We offer residency training in all major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. Associated Health Training is offered in nursing, psychology, audiology, social work, dietetics, and pharmacy.
Each year, ECHCS supports the training of over 120 residents. In addition, approximately 450 medical students rotate through the facility for their clinical experiences.The education department coordinates the rotation of over 370 nursing students from local schools (UCHSC, Regis, CCD, Front Range, and Arapahoe Vocational). The medical center also provides training opportunities for paraprofessional and allied health students and is affiliated with 20 academic institutions, providing training in several different services.
Veterans Service Organizations
The Eastern Colorado Healthcare System maintains a good working relationship with all of our veteran service organization (VSO) partners. We regularly brief our VSO representatives on changes impacting veterans' health care.
US Department of Defense
As a participant in the US Department of Defense TRICARE Program*, the Denver VA Medical Center serves as the main referral source for women's health and orthopedic specialty appointments.
