Extended Care and Rehabilitation

The Eastern Colorado Healthcare System extended care and rehabilitation program provides physical medicine and rehabilitation, transitional care, as well as home and community care.

Medical Foster Home

The Eastern Colorado Health Care System has joined a nation-wide initiative to offer our veterans an alternative to institutional long-term care.  Medical Foster Homes provide care in a non-institutional, community based family setting for eligible veterans.  For more information, please contact Judy Chandler, Medical Foster Home Coordinator, at (303) 399-8020 ext. 2274.

Mental Health

The Eastern Colorado Health Care System offers a variety of mental health services in both the outpatient and inpatient setting.  Services include consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being.

Nutrition and Food Services

Eastern Colorado Health Care System offers a variety of nutrition servies in both outpatient and inpatient setting.  We even offer specialized nutrition services including diabetes nutrition and the MOVE! Palliative Care

The Eastern Colorado Health Care System has a multidisciplinary Palliative Care team that works with veterans who have serious illness or are at end of life.  The team helps with the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of our veterans and their families.  Veterans do not have to be in the last months of life to qualify for or benefit from Palliative Care.  Hospice services, for people in the last months of life, are one part of Palliative Care.  We provide services on the 5-bed Palliative Care Unit in the Denver VA hospital, the Denver Community Living Center, and through two outpatient clinics.

Pharmacy

The Denver VA Medical Center, Colorado Springs VA Clinic, and Pueblo VA Clinic outpatient pharmacies are in operation 5 days a week, Monday - Friday, with the following lobby hours:

Denver VA Medical Center Outpatient Pharmacy 8:30am - 6:00pm
Colorado Springs VA Clinic Outpatient Pharmacy 8:30am - 4:15pm
Pueblo VA Clinic Outpatient Pharmacy 8:30am - 4:15pm

Prescription refills may be requested by phone, online or in person.  Once requested, all prescription refills are sent by mail.

Polytrauma Network Site

The Eastern Colorado Healthcare System spinal cord injury, polytrauma program provides comprehensive care to patients who have suffered spinal cord injuries, multiple trauma injuries from combat and traumatic brain injuries.  Our multi-disciplinary team provides services such as pain management, blind rehabilitation, amputee program, inpatient rehabilitiation and rehabilitation and orthopedic progams. Read more about our spinal cord injury program.

Primary Care

Primary Care is offered in all eight Eastern Colorado Healthcare System Community Based Outpatient Clinics and the Denver VA Medical Center.  Primary Care clinics offer an extensive range of treatments with an emphasis on health care prevention.

Research

The Eastern Colorado Healthcare System has a large research and development program, which enhances our ability to provide state-of-the-art medical techniques and treatments to our veteran patients.   Read more about our research programs.

Social Work

Social work is an integral part of health care. Our social work program assists veterans with counseling and community services.

Specialty Care

The Eastern Colorado Healthcare System offers specialty care offers services at either the Denver VA Medical Center or the Colorado Springs Community Based Outpatient Clinic.  Services include all surgical specialties as well as neurology, radiation, oncology, and audiology.

Teleretinal Imaging

If you have diabetes, you should be screened regularly for eye disease.  The Eastern Colorado Health Care System offers teleretinal imaging at the Denver VAMC and at the Colorado Springs and Pueblo CBOCs. For questions or appointments, please call (303) 399-8020 ext. 4488.

Voluntary Services

There are many volunteer opportunities available at the Denver VAMC and our Community Living Centers.  Volunteers provides services such as transporting patients, visiting patients, performing administrative support tasks, and helping with recreational therapy.

Women's Health

The Eastern Colorado Healthcare System woman veterans' health program includes a number of clinical services available to women, including gynecology, mammography, reproductive care, and menopause treatment. Read more about VA's woman veterans' health program.
